Our tours are typically private and from 5 to 8 days, to cover the different areas, to get the best light, and increase the chances of great shots. However, if you don't have 5 days to a week, don't fear we're not your 'average tour company.
We've put together some epic 'day' trips, a 'day being something like 15 hours :) with us. So you can pack a sunset or sunrise shoot with the cormorant fishermen, capture a dramatic mountaintop sunrise, and a chance to hike in more rural areas, with options to photography some friendly local people at a pitstop in an ancient town. This is all in one day! We pack in the experience and locations and ensure you see the coolest places. All tours are private, just you, and your own photo guide. If you're 1 or 3 people the price is almost the same, so if you are on a budget it is best to travel with friends, as it can split your trip costs by up to a third. We're just talking small costs differences for some land fees, gate fees, or if you take a raft on the river that requires a ticket. In just 1 to 2 days, GPT cover more than most tour operators offer in 3 to 4 days. Naturally to offer what we do, hiring the very best guides, guides that truly understand photogs, we won't be the cheapest. We cost a lot more than 'tours', guiding 3am until sunset. Our drivers often have to set off on the road to collect guides 2-30 to 3-30am, and our team return home a lot later than our clients. We asking raftsmen to be waiting in places at 4am, and fishermen to come out in the rain for a private shoot to more remove locations, as we wait for weather to break. To run such unique trips, to hire great guides, and arrange local families to model and get to these awesome locations at the right time we need cars, the very best professional drivers with extremely extended hours of service. Our drivers also receive extra professional driving training each year, are licensed for commercial service and Andy, one of our founders, goes our driving with the team to test and further train them, to make sure there the safest drivers in Guilin. It would be impossible to get many of these shots without a our network of connections, a reliable team of well paid drivers, and rafts services to access locations, especially in such a short time. We want you to have an awesome day, and the best chance to walk away with portfolio shots. We are dedicated to getting you to experience as much as possible in the time you have here. Our guiding days are usually 15-17 hours long, that is 2-3 times the service hours of Chinese tour operators. |

1 Day Photo Tour
The Li River by Motor Raft
Cormorant Fisherman & Li River
Starting from Guilin city we'll take you to the most dramatic mountain sunrise in Guilin. Setting off from your Guilin city hotel on average at 4 am. You'll arrive at the base of a mountain, it has good steps but is like taking the stairs on an 18 floor building. We will ascend in time for sunrise. We're will prepare some simple small snacks and coffee for breakfast to enjoy on the mountain top. Ideal if you need to wait for a break in the weather. It's worth the wait!
You will travel on a motor raft on the most scenic section of the Li River before all the noisy tourist boats crowd the river. The ride is about 1 to 1.5 hours and the raft is covered, so no problem in the rain and photogenic mist. You'll arrive at an ancient fishing village, between Guilin and Yangshuo. Have a break in the village, you've already been going more hours than a long day with a standard tour company :)
After lunch... hike with us off the tourist trail to a beautiful bend on a remote part of the river, before returning to a riverside village to meet and photograph the locals. If it's raining these paths become so dangerous we may have the cancel the hike.
In the evening we're arrange a shoot with the cormorant fishermen for 1-2 hours, before we drive you back to Guilin.
The day will typically start at 4am and you'll be back into Guilin city by 10-11 pm, covering in 1 day the number of guiding hours most Chinese tours cover in 2-3 days.

A Local Flea Market in Guilin

The 'Real' China street scenes, the old, the new, medicine shops, flea market, caves, with locals playing cards all by bike or eCart. A walk into an area where old meets new. This tour will start to operate soon. It will be our only 'join-in' group tour. You will be required to hire a bike and it will only run on Saturday mornings.
